ERROR MESSAGE WHEN TRYING TO SIGN-IN OR SET-UP ACCOUNT

error message

If you are seeing a browser error message after clicking on "Sign-In" or "Set-Up Online Account Access," don't worry. The site is not down or broken. The error message is being triggered because of a required security layer within the browser that needs to be enabled and there is a very easy solution.

The online account system was recently updated and now requires the browser to have TLS 1.0 enabled. This is simply a security layer within the browser, similar to an SSL encryption layer.

THE SOLUTION

These directions are for Internet Explorer. The setting is the same for other browsers, but the location of the setting varies.

1. At the top-left of the browser, click on "TOOLS" and then "INTERNET OPTIONS" in the menu bar. (If you don't see the menu bar or "TOOLS," it's because the menu bar has been disabled. RIGHT-CLICK somewhere between the address bar and the page display and click on "MENU BAR," to re-enable it.)

Click "Tools" and then "Internet Options"

2. Click on the far-right tab, "ADVANCED." Then scroll all the way to the bottom and click in the box for "USE TLS 1.0." Then click "APPLY" and "OK."

Click the "ADVANCED" tab. Then click the box for "TLS 1.0."

You should now be able to access the account log-in screen or set-up online account access. Return to Log-In page
